Fannie Vet and Housing Wonk Named Fed's Consumer Affairs Director
The Federal Reserve said Friday that it has appointed Eric Belsky to serve as director of its Division of Consumer and Community Affairs.
He is currently the managing director at Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies and a lecturer at the school's Graduate School of Design. He has also previously served as the director of housing finance research at Fannie Mae.
Belsky is expected to start in August. He succeeds Sandra Braunstein, who retired earlier this year.
The division oversees compliance with consumer protection and fair lending laws, including the Community Reinvestment Act. It also conducts research on consumer finance issues and manages the Fed's community development programs in underserved areas.
