ComplianceEase has promoted Dan Smith from vice president of national sales to senior vice president of sales.

Smith, who joined the company in 2005 as a sales director, has more than 20 years of experience.

Prior to ComplianceEase, he was a lead product consultant at Fiserv where he managed a support and consulting team.

WASHINGTON

The Mortgage Bankers Association announced that Rick Arvielo, CEO of New American Funding, was appointed chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association Political Action Committee for the 2017-2018 election cycle.

Arvielo succeeds Jamie Korus who served as MORPAC chairman for the 2015-2016 election cycle.

Arvielo also sits on both the steering committee for the Mortgage Action Alliance Committee and the Residential Board of Governors.

HFF has appointed Michael Weinberg to senior managing director and co-head of the firm's Orlando office alongside senior managing director Brad Peterson.

Weinberg has 12 years of experience in commercial real estate and focuses primarily on debt and equity placement transactions across all major property types.

He joined HFF's Miami office in 2010, where he and Peterson focused on cultivating new business in the Orlando and Central Florida markets.

Walker & Dunlop Inc. said that Thomas Sigrist and Brad Burns have joined the company as senior vice presidents in its FHA finance group.

Based out of the company's Phoenix office, Sigrist and Burns will be responsible for originating loans through the Department of Housing and Urban Development for all multifamily and health care transaction types.

They join Walker & Dunlop from Berkadia Commercial Mortgage where Sigrist had been responsible for HUD lending since 1989 and Burns since 2010.

Alterra Home Loans has added Rene Rodriguez to its senior management team as its new chief learning officer.

He brings to the firm a background in mortgage technology, having formerly founded and served as CEO of BetterLoanOfficer.com.

Prior to that, Rodriguez was CEO of Mortgage Dashboard.

OKLAHOMA

Gateway Mortgage Group has hired Barbara Burton as a regional sales manager.

She will serve existing and prospective clients in Southern California and Arizona.

Burton has over 15 years of experience in correspondent sales and prior to joining Gateway, she has worked with JPMorgan Chase, Macquarie USA, Impac Mortgage and Ditech Financial.

CalyxSoftware said that Patrice Power has joined the company as director of marketing.

Power brings more than 30 years of brand marketing and management experience to Calyx.

Most recently, she was senior vice president of marketing at LenderLive, a domestic-based mortgage services provider.
