Freddie Mac Plans Nonperforming Loan Sale

Freddie Mac plans to auction off $233 million of nonperforming loans, the government-sponsored enterprise announced Tuesday.

The offering consists of a single pool of deeply delinquent loans currently serviced by Ocwen Loan Servicing. The sale of the geographically diverse pool of loans is expected to close in July.

The sale comes on the heels of the GSE's first Extended Pool Offering announced April 24, which is also expected to be settled by July. A recent report from Fitch Ratings suggested that these NPL auctions could benefit banks, as they look to try to sell their own loans.
