MGIC Investment Corp. ended April with 2,606 fewer delinquent loans on its books as the number of new notices declined from the prior month.
MGIC ended April with 69,630 delinquent loans, according to data the mortgage insurer released Friday.
The reduction occurred in part due to the smaller number of new delinquencies the Milwaukee-based company saw at just 5,400 loans versus 5,486 the month before.
Additionally, MGIC cured 6,522 loans while another 1,423 had the claim paid. A further 61 loans were written off through rescissions and denials.
Altogether, MGIC wrote $3.6 billion in primary new insurance during the month, the same level as in March.
