FEMA Taps New Flood Insurance Direct Service Provider

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has tapped Torrent Technologies as a direct service provider for the National Flood Insurance Program.

As a direct service provider for the program, Torrent will help in the response to flood events and in improving the customer experience for the program's policyholders. The company will also handle data security.

Torrent is a subsidiary of Marsh LLC, a global insurance broking and risk management company.

"When households and businesses suffer from a flood, they need to be paid quickly and accurately so they can restore their lives and their property," said Kevin Tobin, president and CEO of Marsh's Insurance Services Group.

"We believe Torrent's advanced technology will enable us to interact more efficiently with those who may have suffered a flood loss and accelerate the payment of claims."

The company noted that it will continue to make investments in the proprietary TorrentFlood system to improve the speed and efficiency of claims payments and to streamline the application process for agents.
