Colorado Springs-area foreclosures continue to fall

Colorado Springs-area foreclosure activity continued to decline in April.

The number of residential and commercial properties that fell into foreclosure in Colorado Springs and surrounding communities totaled 79 last month, a roughly 20% drop from April 2017, a report by the El Paso County Public Trustee's Office shows.

Through the first four months of this year, local foreclosure notices totaled 314, down 18.4% on a year-over-year basis.

As the Colorado Springs-area housing market and economy have improved, foreclosure activity has slowed.

Foreclosure notices have dropped each year since setting a record high of 5,288 in 2009. Last year, foreclosure notices totaled 1,089, a 17-year low.
