CoreLogic Hires Freddie Mac's Frank Nothaft as Chief Economist

CoreLogic Inc., the property-data firm spun off from First American Financial Corp., hired Frank Nothaft from Freddie Mac as its chief economist.

Nothaft will lead the economics team and be head of research and insights strategy, the Irvine, Calif.-based company said Monday in a statement.

Nothaft replaces Mark Fleming, who was hired by First American Financial to be the insurer's chief economist in November. Nothaft will be in charge of expanding CoreLogic's economic-policy unit and enhancing research capabilities, according to the statement.

"Frank's experience and thought leadership will help to ensure that our market-leading property data, analytics and insights continue to provide unique value," Chief Executive Officer Anand Nallathambi said in the statement.

Nothaft was government-backed mortgage company Freddie Mac's chief economist, CoreLogic said. He has a bachelor's degree from New York University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University, according to the statement.
