Houston new-home sales tops in Texas in November

Houston secured the top spot in the new-home sales market in Texas as builders sold 1,481 new homes in the area in November, according to HomesUSA.com.

November home sales in the Houston market were flat from the 1,482 new-home sales in October, according to HomesUSA.com, which tracks a 12-month rolling average for new homes in the Houston Association of Realtors' Multiple Listing Service.

"November's strong new-home sales numbers in Houston shows little signs of stopping," Ben Caballero, owner of HomesUSA.com, said in an announcement. "The three other major new-home markets — Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio — all recorded record or near-record home sales in November as well."

New homes in the Houston market sold for an average of $352,353 in November, based on the 12-month rolling average.

New-home sales totaled 4,168 in the top four Texas markets in November, six more than in the previous month. The Dallas region registered 1,367 sales in November, unchanged from October.

Pending home sales declined in all four of the state's largest markets. In Houston, pending sales dropped to 1,332 in November from 1,413 in October.
