John Owen joined Regions in July 2007 and is head of the Consumer Services Group, which includes Consumer Banking, Mortgage Banking, Corporate Marketing, Service Quality and E-business. He also serves as a member of the Executive Council for Regions, a top U.S. bank-holding company headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, with $130 billion in assets, operating 1,726 banking offices in 16 states. Prior to being named head of Regions Consumer Services Group in 2009, Owen served as head of Operations and Technology. Before joining Regions, he served as chief executive officer of Assurant Specialty Property, a Fortune 500 company based in Atlanta, Georgia. Owen began his service at Assurant in 1998 as senior vice president of Information Technology. From 2003 until 2005 he held the position of chief operating officer of Assurants Property and Solutions Group and then was promoted to chief executive officer. Owen also served as senior vice president of Global Systems Development for Citicorp Credit Services and chief information officer of North American Operations for Arrow Electronics. He began his career in 1983 in information systems with American Airlines and McDonnell-Douglas. Owen holds a bachelors degree in Aviation Management from Auburn Universitys School of Engineering in Auburn, Alabama. Owen is a graduate of Leadership Alabama, a board member on the Consumer Bankers Association, and a member of the Financial Services Roundtable.
