The Top Producers of 2023: Top 50 women originators

The mortgage industry has over 216,000 loan officers, and women make up an approximate 44% share, according to a blog post on The CE Shop website.

Yet as this year's Top Producer survey results showed, gender does not determine success in this business. Brandi Schaefer of California's Safe Credit Union is one of seven producers who did over $200 million of volume last year.

Schaefer built a great referral business serving homebuilders, and is still closing between $10 million and $20 million a month in the current environment, she said in an interview.

Her advice to other originators to deal with the current environment: "Work hard, service your clients. Remember, they're the ones that said send you business."
