The long-term rate-indicative 10-year Treasury yield plummeted below 4.20% Thursday afternoon, a low not seen in more than a year.The benchmark yield has generally been trending downward from a point above 4.40% since the end of October, but it had failed to breach the 4.20% point until Thursday afternoon, when it suddenly dropped to trading levels as low as 4.15%. The yield remained below 4.20% as of midday Friday.
