The Atlanta-based lender said it is hiring 85 new full-timers this quarter and 85 more in 4Q. It also plans to open a new operations center in New York State.

Some of the new jobs will include loan officer positions. It also will hire entry level workers.

The company has four existing service centers — in Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Savannah. Founded in 1998, the nonbank lender is licensed in 30 states. It has originated $2 billion in mortgages since 2004.

In one other employment note, Jacksonville, Fla., mayor John Peyton said PNC Mortgage will add 200 jobs in the area by yearend. (A handful of mortgage-related firms have call centers in Jacksonville.)

At press time a PNC spokesman had not returned a telephone call about the matter.
