Attom sells legacy company RealtyTrac to Nations Info

As part of a business model refocus, Attom Data Solution has sold its RealtyTrac and Homefacts websites to Nations Info. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Nations Info is a Goleta, Calif.-based provider of real estate and financial information services, according to its Crunchbase profile.

No RealtyTrac or Homefacts executives or employees were affected by the divestiture, said Rick Sharga, Attom's executive vice president, market intelligence. Instead, the employees that worked at those two businesses have been redeployed to other positions within Attom.

The sale means that Attom is parting with a big piece of its history. It was founded in 1996 as RealtyTrac. But six years ago, as part of the introduction of the Attom Data Warehouse database, it rebranded, taking the Attom Data Solutions name.

RealtyTrac "was integral to fueling our company's growth over the years," said Rob Barber, Attom's CEO, in a press release. "But as the company shifted its focus to data licensing, and our customer base moved from individual consumers and real estate agents to large enterprises, websites like RealtyTrac and Homefacts were no longer closely aligned with our future vision for Attom's growth."

Now, Attom can focus 100% on accelerating the growth of its data licensing business. "We're well on our way to meeting our 2022 objectives, and this enhanced focus should enable us to be even more successful in the years ahead," Barber said.

As part of this transaction, Nations Info signed a multi-year agreement to become an Attom data licensing customer.

In 2019, Attom was acquired by Lovell Minnick Partners from Renovo Capital and Rosewood Private Investments. In July 2020, Attom purchased Home Junction, a real estate technology company that creates geographic boundary datasets for neighborhoods, school attendance zones, subdivisions and more. A year later it bought GeoData Plus, which provides valuation, comparable sales and public record data.
