Michael J. Mazzei has been named managing director and head of U.S. real estate and commercial mortgage-backed securities at Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays PLC.Mr. Mazzei was most recently managing director and co-head of the real estate investment banking group at Lehman Brothers, where he also served for 10 years as the head of the company's fixed-income CMBS business, Barclays said. Grant Kvalheim, global head of investment banking and credit products at Barclays, said Mr. Mazzei will be charged with creating a team of about 50 professionals in a variety of disciplines. "The CMBS market averages some $78 billion in annual issuance, and it therefore represents an important new product area for Barclays Capital and for our clients," Mr. Kvalheim said.
