Brookfield Properties Corp., has announced that it will proceed with the spin-out of its U.S. homebuilding subsidiary, Brookfield Homes Corp.Brookfield Properties said it had received a go-ahead from the Securities and Exchange Commission for the spin-out, which will be effective Jan. 6. The shares of the subsidiary will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol BHS. Brookfield Properties has dual headquarters in New York and Toronto.
