The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has hired Kathleen Ryan, an expert on mortgage regulations, to serve as the deputy assistant director for the Office of Regulations.
Ryan was senior regulatory counsel at JPMorgan Chase & Co. where she focused on mortgage and fair lending issues. She previously served at the Federal Reserve’s consumer affairs division.
The CFPB also revealed Monday that it’s hired a government relations director and chief economist. It has become easier for the bureau to recruit personnel now that the Senate has
Cheryl Parker Rose will be the assistant director for the Office of Intergovernmental Relations. Rose was deputy director of U.S. government relations for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and she previously served on the staff of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
Johns Hopkins University professor Christopher Carroll is joining the CFPB as an assistant director and chief economist. A former Federal Reserve economist, Carroll has served on the President’s Council of Economic Advisors on two separate occasions.
