Commercial Real Estate Execs Project Market to Stabilize

Commercial real estate executives expect asset values and capital availability to stabilize next year, according to The Real Estate Roundtable's fourth-quarter Sentiment Index survey.

The index dropped by 4 points compared to the second quarter, and by 13 points compared to the third quarter of 2014, but remained overall positive at 57. (Any score over 50 is viewed as positive.)

The survey did show that commercial real estate executives are worried about how fast values will appreciate and the instability of global markets.

But some saw a silver lining. "Some survey respondents also note that international volatility might create more demand for safe-haven assets like U.S. CRE," noted Jeffrey DeBoer, the president and chief executive of The Real Estate Roundtable, in a Nov. 9 press release.
