The former head of the Congressional Millennial Housing Commission, chair of the Fairfax County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, and president of the National Housing Conference, Egan has led housing policy and advocacy efforts in both private and public capacities for more than 50 years.

He replaces former CPDC board chair Larry Dale, who served in that role for seven years.

Egan is the immediate past chairman and current board member of the Open Door Housing Fund, a community development financial institution dedicated to preserving affordable homes.

He also co-chairs the Fairfax County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee after being appointed by the board of supervisors to provide advice on how to best support affordable homes in Northern Virginia.
