CU Mortgage Giant Staffing Up

Navy Federal Credit Union, Merrifield, Va., the largest CU player in mortgages, plans to hire as many as 600 employees at its Pensacola, Fla., call center campus to accommodate growth.

Among residential servicers, Navy FCU ranks 25^th nationwide with $29 billion in housing receivables, according to figures compiled by National Mortgage News, and the Quarterly Data Report. Among home funders, it ranks 30^th.

In 2011 it added 400,000 new customers or what credit unions call “members.”

Overall, it has $47 billion in assets and almost 3.9 million members.
