Euro Mortgage Industry's Self-Regulation Rapped

The results of the European mortgage industry's effort to self-regulate through a code of conduct have been "disappointing," the European commissioner for health and consumer protection has told attendees at the International Union for Housing Finance's World Congress in Brussels.The commissioner, David Byrne, said he feels the code has been "poorly observed." He said he would like to see more done to provide information to consumers in such a way that they can "shop around."
