A campaign among the branches of Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp. has raised over $50,000 for The One Fund, which supports the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. The donations were inspired by the company’s Needham, Mass. office, which had brought its clients and Realtors
The May 8 event included a donation of 5% of the day’s receipts to The One Fund, an organization whose goal is to raise and provide immediate funds to victims to offset the costs associated with various levels of injury. The One Fund has raised $50 million to date, and payouts are expected to begin by mid-June.
In her blog, Amy Tierce, regional vice president and Needham branch manager, said the May 8 event resulted in $15,000 being spent in stores on Boylston St. She wrote “we were sure others would be interested in supporting The One Fund as well.
“Sure enough, we were not disappointed. The call went out through our corporate offices located in Sun Prairie, Wis. In less than a month, over 40 branches nationwide and 38 individual employees generously contributed to the cause.”
