First American Financial Chair Emeritus Dies at 93

First American Financial Corp. chairman emeritus and title insurance industry veteran Donald P. Kennedy has died at age 93.

Under Kennedy's leadership, First American Title Insurance Co. grew from one office in Santa Ana Calif. to an $8 billion international corporation. He consistently went to the company's Santa Ana office until he was 90.

Kennedy first helped First American expand outside of the Santa Ana area in 1957, using title-company acquisitions in which each office was allowed to operate as if it was its own company.

Donald's son, Parker Kennedy, is the publicly traded First American Financial's current chairman. Kennedy's grandfather, C.E. Parker, originally founded the company.
