Mark Ernst began his new position as executive vice president and chief operating officer of financial services technology vendor Fiserv Monday.
Ernst was most recently the deputy commissioner for operations support at the Internal Revenue Service, Brookfield, Wis.-based Fiserv said in a statement, adding that in his new role, he will lead integrated product delivery, service quality and operational effectiveness initiatives, while reporting to president and CEO Jeffery Yabuki.
"Mark has a proven track record in delivering strong results across a wide array of financial services businesses and government," said Yabuki. "His leadership experience will complement our management team as we look to further extend our solution differentiation, and capture a larger share of market opportunities."
Prior to the IRS, Ernst was CEO of investment firm Bellevue Capital and spent nearly a decade at H&R Block, serving as chairman, president and CEO from 2001 to 2007.
