Glen Evans, FNC's president, said the unit bridges the gap between the sales and implementation functions. The team enters the scene towards the end of the sale and stays through getting the project up and running.

It is about, Evans said, "how can we best fit our technology to their processes."

The division includes FNC special projects director Jon Fisher and Lance Thoet, who heads up the new division.

"It is not our intention to charge FNC clients for these consulting services," Evans said. "Our consultants will offer their expertise free. We envision them helping clients meet deadlines in aggressive schedules by executing technological solutions quickly and smoothly and working internally with FNC departments to find the best ways to solve a client's changing needs and priorities."

The pair will help smooth the process for client's to get the FNC technology up and running quicker, Evens said, noting that a large tech implementation can be a challenge.

He added that the items which have roiled the appraisal side of the business in recent months, the Home Valuation Code of Conduct and the new Federal Housing Administration standards were not direct drivers behind the decision to create the new consulting group. But Evans said he could see a point in the future where the group will be able to offer consulting on specific issues an individual client faces.

When helping clients troubleshoot problems, Thoet says he "measures the defects and then analyzes the process to determine where design/redesign or improvements are needed and then implements the solution and controls."
