The Government National Mortgage Association is expediting the release of its monthly MBS disclosure files by two weeks, in an effort to give investors more timely information on which to trade.
Due to this change, the agency's report on September MBS activity will be released on October 21. Under the old reporting regimen, the information would not be released until the second business day in November.
Investors own roughly $1 trillion in GNMA MBS, the fastest growing niche in mortgage investing.
"We have listened to our investors' request for more timely disclosure of our MBS," said Ginnie Mae president Theodore Tozer. "As part of our continuing effort to be as investor-centric as possible, without causing disruptions to our issuers or government guaranty, we've been able to execute on these promises."
