Heritage Financial Group Inc., Albany, Ga., has made three executive hires for its mortgage division, which is headquartered in Alpharetta. These hirings are a precursor to a move into third party origination channels, company executives said.
Steven M. Cannon and J. Brent Harrell have been hired as division co-presidents. Cannon is the former vice president of business development for LoanSouth Mortgage, Atlanta.
Before that, he co-founded Meridian Mortgage Partners. He has 14 years financial services industry experience and nine years mortgage industry experience.
Harrell was the director of wholesale and correspondent lending for Fidelity Bank Mortgage, Atlanta. He has 10 years experience in the business, and has also worked in secondary marketing and underwriting plus credit and compliance matters.
The third hire is Patrick Huefner as executive vice president-director of secondary marketing. He also comes from Fidelity Bank Mortgage, where he was a vice president. Huefner’s experience includes mortgage pricing, interest rate risk management, whole loan sales and securitizations, and new product development.
Leonard Dorminey, Heritage Financial’s president and CEO, said “with the addition of this new talent and experience, we expect to expand HeritageBank Mortgage aggressively by adding retail mortgage originators and developing new capabilities, like wholesale and correspondent mortgage services.”
Heritage Financial is forming an advisory board for the mortgage company to provide input on market intelligence, new business development and strategic matters. Robert S. Cannon, the founder and former president of BancMortgage Financial Group is the first member.
