Hope LoanPort, GMAC Mortgage Launch Homeowner Connect

GMAC Mortgage has partnered with Hope LoanPort, the national nonprofit web-based tool used for streamlining loss mitigation applications, to launch a portal called Homeowner Connect for its borrowers to access that are having trouble making their monthly payments.

The consumer direct web portal will provide homeowners with information that helps them make knowledgeable decisions about what foreclosure alternative options are available to pursue.

According to the Fort Washington, Pa.-based servicer, Homeowner Connect will standardize the entire communication lifecycle of loss mitigation activities between mortgage servicers and borrowers. Homeowners will now have the ability to connect with valuable free resources, such as information on options through government and industry programs all in one place and from any computer with Internet access.

Through Homeowner Connect, GMAC Mortgage borrowers will have the ability to submit their application, track their status and upload all required documents. Additionally, customers will be able to securely apply for foreclosure alternatives, through Homeowner Connect, directly online.

“GMAC Mortgage is committed to preserving home ownership whenever possible. In that spirit, we’re proud to support this initiative with Hope LoanPort to provide useful tools and education to borrowers,” said Dana Dilliard, senior vice president at GMAC Mortgage.

As part of the partnership, MortgageKeeper Referral Services, a web-based database application containing over 6,000 nonprofit and government agencies in 20 different service categories, can also be accessed through Homeowners Connect.

MortgageKeeper’s application will help homeowners using this tool to obtain contact numbers to local housing counselors and mortgage servicers in order to initiate the process of curing a default situation.
