Lise Van Susteren, a Maryland psychiatrist and the wife of Mortgage Bankers Association president Jonathan Kempner, is expected to run for the Maryland Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Paul Sarbanes, D-Md., the ranking minority member on the Senate Banking Committee.As of MortgageWire's deadline, Mr. Kempner had no comment. Ms. Van Susteren is also the sister of CNN news personality Greta Van Susteren. Sen. Sarbanes will retire when his term ends next year. Ms. Van Susteren is expected to officially announce her candidacy Sept. 1. Two well-known Democrats, former Congressman Kweisi Mfume and Rep. Benjamin Cardin of Baltimore, are also candidates for the Democratic nomination.
