Emerson is an active MBA member whose contributions include serving on the association’s board of directors and as vice chair of the residential board of governors, as well as MBA’s GSE Single-Family Task Force.

The MBA’s executive committee will benefit from his unique perspectives and strong experience as “a pioneer and a leader in our industry for more than two decades,” stated Debra Still, MBA chairman, in a press release.

Emerson, who joined Quicken Loans as a mortgage banker in 1993, is credited for pioneering the company’s Mortgage-In-A-Box concept, a way of doing business over the phone that helped centralize the Quicken Loans business model. He ran several business units at Quicken Loans before being promoted to CEO in February 2002.

The nomination was announced at the annual chairman’s conference.
