The Chicago-based Mexico Home Capital Ltd. has formed a joint venture with an unnamed private investment entity in Mexico to develop and manage an institutional investment program targeting the Mexican housing industry."The country's affordable housing sector is experiencing positive demand, but the domestic financial system, particularly on the equity side, is not adequate to provide homebuilders with the funds they require to meet this demand," said Carlos Valenzuela, president of Mexico Home Capital. "Our joint venture, which combines Mexican investment sources with U.S. and global sources, will provide a much-needed infusion of capital into the industry and will offer significant benefits for Mexico's homebuilders, just as it does for our institutional investment partners." In addition to project financing, the joint venture plans eventually to expand its investing parameters to include "entity-level" investment in homebuilders, mortgage finance companies, land bank transactions, and loan portfolio acquisitions.
