Mortgage Stocks Close Lower on a Day When the Dow Sets a Record

Most mortgage stocks followed by National Mortgage News did not fare well in Thursday’s trading, even as the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at another record high.

The Dow was up 122 points on the day, but of the 17 Mortgage Industry Equity Composite stocks, 11 closed lower than they did on Tuesday.

Home Loan Servicing Solutions had the largest percentage loss, down nearly 1.9%, followed by MGIC Investment Corp., down 1.2%, and OceanFirst Financial, down 1.1%.

Ellie Mae was the leading gainer, closing 1.2% higher. It was followed by Fiserv, up 0.9%, and Redwood Trust, up 0.7%.
