In recent weeks Bank of America has been telling analysts and shareholders that it is actively selling – or has sold -- mortgages servicing rights while offering little, or no, details on what may've been unloaded, and at what price.
Servicing advisors who track the market have cited two large B of A MSR offerings: a Fannie Mae package of $73 billion, and a smaller Freddie Mac portfolio of $50 billion.
Advisors, speaking under the condition their names not be used because they have clients interested in the portfolios, say they have heard no confirmation that any sales have actually taken place.
To date, B of A has declined to provide any specifics.
One source noted that the $50 billion Freddie package was recently scaled back to $10 billion, but is once again being offered at $50 billion.
