NCPC Creates Online Toolkit for Mortgage Fraud Victims

The nonprofit behind McGruff the Crime Dog has designated mortgage fraudsters as its next target.

The National Crime Prevention Council, whose mascot is the popular crime-chasing cartoon character, has created a new ‘toolkit’ detailing the rights and recourse options of individuals who have been targeted by mortgage fraud.

It will “help mortgage fraud victims and potential homebuyers to react and recover from this problem,” said NCPC president and CEO Ann Harkins in a Wednesday press release.

Funded by the Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime, the website includes various educational resources, including podcast interviews, fact sheets and PowerPoint presentations.
