One Reverse Mortgage, Detroit, is the sponsor for the 3in4 Need More "Get Your Life Back" contest. The contest is for those who care for an aging parent or loved one and the winner receives week's worth of pampering, an in-home safety assessment, one-on-one care giving coaching and technology to support a range of care giving needs.
The 3in4 Association is a non-profit looking to raise awareness of long-term care planning. Its spokeswoman is Marion Somers, who is better known as Dr. Marion. Entries are being accepted through Aug. 31.
Somers is promoting the fact that Americans need to be aware of the need for long-term care planning, where Medicare or traditional insurance does not cover the costs for those who might need services such as nursing homes, assisted living or in-home aides and the money has to come out-of-pocket. Among the options to help mitigate these costs are reverse mortgages.
"Millions of Americans are handling their loved ones' long-term needs, but are literally falling apart in the process. By sharing their stories, they can inspire and provide support for millions of others. That's what this contest is all about," Somers said.
