LRES Corp. has promoted Molly Merchant to vice president of operations, REO asset management and HOA services.

Merchant, who has over 20 years of experience in the REO and real estate mortgage services industry, has been with LRES for six years.

Promontory MortgagePath has hired Theresa Sloan as managing director, national mortgage operations.

Sloan comes to Promontory MortgagePath from Volly, where she served as a client services executive.

She brings to the firm more than 20 years of industry experience, and has also held positions with Ellie Mae, Black Knight, Mortgage Cadence, Aurora Loan Services and Wells Fargo.

Craig Steinleywas elected 2021 vice president of the Appraisal Institute by its board of directors.

His one-year term at the Appraisal Institute will begin Jan. 1, followed by one year each as president-elect, president and immediate past president.

Steinley will serve on its executive committee and the policymaking board of directors all four years. He also will chair the finance committee in 2021 and the national nominating committee in 2024.

He is principal of Steinley Real Estate Appraisals and Consulting in Rapid City, S.D.

New Jersey

Toorak Capital Partners Inc. said that Carole Mortensen and Ketan Parekh have joined the firm as managing directors and head of credit and head of business development and capital markets, respectively.

Mortensen joins Toorak from M1 Strategic Advisors, a consulting firm that supports specialty finance companies, where she served as managing principal.

Parekh is joining Toorak from Invictus Capital Partners, a Washington-based alternative mortgage credit fund, where he served as managing director.

Barings has appointed Shawn Kimble as head of U.S. real estate capital markets.

Kimble will have responsibility for all debt activities supporting the real estate debt and equity businesses in the U.S.

He joins Barings from Wells Fargo where he was a vice president in the real estate capital markets group in New York.
