The Dow Jones Wilshire Global Real Estate Investment Trust Index has announced plans to include eligible real estate companies based in South Africa for the first time.South African property unit trusts, the equivalent of U.S. REITs, may now be eligible for inclusion in the index. Previously these companies had been "classified as 'fund'-like entities, which disqualified them," Dow Jones Indexes and Wilshire Associates said.
