Naqvi left PNC in April, in a position which had been a homecoming for him. He had been president and CEO of PNC Mortgage Corp. of America between 1995 and 2001 when the bank sold the mortgage operations. In 2009, he returned after PNC Financial Services Group acquired National City Corp. and its mortgage business National City Mortgage.

During his period away from PNC Mortgage, Naqvi was vice president of Harley Davidson Financial Services, CEO of home equity lender DeepGreen Financial and chief financial officer of Setara Corp.

Freddie Mac chairman Christopher Lynch said in a press release that Naqvi “has a national reputation as a seasoned financial executive with proven leadership experience and detailed knowledge of mortgage and consumer financial operations.”
