SunTrust taps ex-PNC Mortgage exec for top mortgage job

Todd Chamberlain, the former CEO of PNC Mortgage, is joining SunTrust Banks to head up its home lending business.

His title will be executive vice president and head of mortgage, reporting to vice chairman and consumer segment executive Mark Chancy.

Dorinda Smith, who had been at the helm of SunTrust Mortgage since October 2015, is retiring as of March 31. Before that, she was the national production manager for its correspondent channel.

"Throughout her tenure, Dorinda Smith has led teams that are instrumental in helping our clients become more financially confident, particularly when making the important decision to purchase a new home," said Chancy in a press release.

Chamberlain joined PNC Mortgage in 2011 as president and chief operating officer from Regions Bank, where he was the executive vice president and managing director of its mortgage division. When Saiyid Naqvi retired in April 2013, Chamberlain was promoted to president and CEO.

But Chamberlain resigned the post at the end of January 2015, because of family considerations.

He returned to Regions Bank, where he served as executive vice president of consumer lending support services. In addition to his post there, Chamberlain serves as chairman of the Housing Policy Council, an affiliate of the Financial Services Roundtable.
