American Land Title Association CEO Kurt Pfotenhauer is joining First American Title Insurance Co. as executive vice president and vice chairman, leaving the trade group after three and one-half years on the job.
At First American, he will be given the task of maintaining executive-level relationships with big banks and assisting in its political and legislative efforts.
Before joining ALTA, Pfotenhauer was senior vice president of government affairs for the Mortgage Bankers Association and worked as chief of staff for a U.S. Senator and a Congressman.
In a statement Anne Anastasi, president of ALTA, said “He revitalized the association’s advocacy efforts by creating a grassroots capability and growing contributions to the Title Insurance Political Action Committee by nearly 65%, and despite the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, Kurt has helped ALTA achieve record membership and revenues."
A call to ALTA for further information about a replacement for Pfotenhauer had not been returned by press time.
