According to The Strauss Group, Buffalo, N.Y., the servicer in question—which it declined to identify—has more than $100 billion in residential servicing rights on its books.

The official title of the open position is senior vice president, default servicing. An official at Strauss said the mortgage banker wants to get the default servicing manger onboard as soon as possible.

Strauss, the official said, is conducting a nationwide search for the right individual.

Default management has taken on a new urgency since the housing market crashed in early 2008, especially in the wake of the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac buyback tsunami.
