Originators in the United Kingdom have set a new monthly lending record, according to the Council of Mortgage Lenders.Gross mortgage lending in the U.K. hit a new record high of £25.7 billion (about $43.0 billion) in September, the council said. The council expects lending to remain strong "for the rest of this year -- and into next year -- until the impact of predicted increases in interest rates feeds through."
