As part of the partnership, FGMC customer service representatives will have continuous, Web-based access to 6,000 nonprofit and government services that can assist customers who are in financial distress.

The representatives will enter the consumer's zip code and then choose from up to 20 different service categories, like job training, food assistance, and utility payment assistance to assist clients in reducing their living expenses. After the information is inserted into the system, representatives can provide a list of local, qualified organizations that can aid them from defaulting on their mortgages.

“Our partnership with MortgageKeeper represents a very real solution to the very real difficulties many in our economy face,” said Andrew Peters, CEO of McLean, Va.-based First Guaranty Mortgage Corp. “Our commitment to the viewpoint that borrowers are much more than simply numbers to us does not end with the loan closing. This resource will allow us to support our customers and help them in these challenging days.”

Servicers that are currently utilizing MKDesktop include Bank of America,  American Home Mortgage Servicing, Ocwen Loan Servicing and the Homeownership Preservation Foundations toll-free HOPE hotline.
