We have all heard this statement: If I just knew then what I know now, I would be doing that; well are you? Have you made the change?
How about this updated version: Everything you know now that you wish you had known then you need to take action immediately to adjust yourself to the new and current level of knowledge. Now!
Allow me to give you one more: never delegate anything that only you can do. And always, delegate something that someone else can do.
I have found over and over and then over again, that many of the areas of my life and business that are not going as well as possible, that are causing problems, are a result of me delegating something that I should be doing, such as training my staff, calling a customer, calling a referral partner. So, back to the story...
If I just knew then what I know now, I would be doing that—this life and business transforming positional statement includes: starting, stopping, adjusting, hiring and firing. Everything is covered that you need to do to improve areas in your life.
If you know you need to make a change, determine to make it now.
Now, that doesn’t mean necessarily that you walk into you’re the bosses office and quit today or tell your partner(s) that you are taking your "ball" and going home. But, if know you need to find another place to work, start the process now. If it means that you need to make a decision, take your head out of the sand and begin to make realistic assessments of what you need to do, in any of the given situations you find yourself in, that you which you were not in, that are dragging you down, that you don’t see a way out of, that are wasting your time, talent, and treasure.
Action begins with making a list and then developing an appropriate action plan for each area.
For example: Do you need to:
• Separate yourself from bad actors
• Start a marketing program
• Cut your spending
• Call a customer
• Call a referral partner
Again: Everything you know now that you wish you had known then—you need to take action immediately to adjust yourself and your actions to the new and current level of knowledge.
So how do you start?
1. Determine that you want improvement
2. Identify what is working well
3. Understand how that situation makes you feel
4. Then identify what is not working well
5. When you are “fed up” with the way that is making you feel, make a plan to either improve it or extricate yourself
Do all of this by setting aside a quantum amount of time for each step of the strategy.
