Good Health Equals Good Business, Part II

More from our anonymous contributor, who feels that if you’re not healthy and don’t feel good, how can you possibly run an effective mortgage business? Here are a few more ideas to help improve your physical well-being.

• Sleep—You ever seen a flashlight that is low on batteries? It struggles to work, flickering on and off, fighting to shine any light it can. Do you feel like a flashlight low on batteries all the time? Remember, quality (not necessarily quantity) sleep is hugely important to your health.

The body repairs itself during sleep. If you’re not getting good quality sleep (and enough, of course) your body and mind are not getting the repair they need, which means your body and mind are not able to function at normal levels.

Those who do not get quality sleep may notice they get sick more frequently (since their immune system isn’t getting repaired each night) or suffer from other unexplained maladies. Not to mention, you’ll be groggy all day, which is a drag. Figure out why you’re not getting good sleep and your life will change. And by the way, quality of sleep is probably not due to a bad mattress, unless it’s a really bad mattress. Quality of sleep is more internal stuff. But if you think your mattress is responsible for your bad sleep, go out and get a good mattress that gives you 30 days or so to return it in case you’re not satisfied.

Lastly, the worst thing you can do in the morning is wake up, hit the snooze button, and go back to sleep. Once you wake up, you’ll feel the best throughout the day if you get up and get going. If you wake up and go back to sleep, you’re likely to be groggy throughout the day.

Sometimes doctors will refer you to a sleep specialist where you spend the night in their lab while they hook you up to monitor your sleep. That can be expensive if not covered by insurance. There’s a new home device you might be interested in at http://www.myzeo.com. It’s not perfect, but might be helpful at a reasonable price.

• Digestion—If you have digestion and/or elimination issues, it’s not only a sign of something very wrong in your system which needs immediate attention, but you’re likely not properly absorbing nutrients and vitamins which is a huge problem, because even if you are eating healthy foods and vitamins, you’re likely not be absorbing much from them.

Poor digestion can be a sign of anything from simply eating too fast, not chewing your food thoroughly before swallowing, to more complicated stuff like liver issues (liver is heavily involved in digestion), food allergies or food sensitivity (those are two different issues), too much or too little soluble or insoluble fiber, lactose or gluten intolerance, to stress/worry, or even worms/parasites in your intestines dining on you.

If you’re not properly digesting and eliminating food, it’s a sign of something very wrong. Get the issue resolved. Many digestion issues are actually related to stress, anxiety, etc. So, if you have digestion issues and you’ve tried treating it by modifying diet and nothing has worked, look at your stress levels and, dare we say it, your mental health.

Not absorbing minerals can result in secondary issues, such as if you don’t absorb enough calcium it leads to fragile bones. Many doctors will diagnose this as osteoporosis when in fact the root cause was a digestion issue. Check this link, http://www.hellolife.net/explore/vitamins-for-her/the-most-common-mineral-deficiencies, to learn about the most common mineral deficiencies.

I’m convinced that if you follow the ideas on this list, you’ll feel better, inside and out, and be more successful in your business. More next time.
