How to Get Realtor's Attention at Trade Shows

While the biggest real estate broker show in the U.S. is the National Association of Realtors annual convention, there are many local Realtor associations that hold their own, mini-trade show that showcases their vendors and suppliers, including mortgage companies.

Within the last several weeks, I received questions about what would be the best way to attract real estate agents to your trade show booth—and what would be a good giveaway so that they not only remember you, but also a good follow up tool to get in touch with them later.

Giving out popcorn or some little trinket may be an easy and fun, but it does very little to get your foot in the door with real estate agents.

So here are some of my suggestions for your trade show booth:

• Coupon for Services—I suggest that you offer a two-hour consultation or you may have situations where agents may take advantage of your time.

• A CD with lead generation and marketing tips to help them increase their business—I suggest you print your own label with your contact info.

• Give them a certificate for books—List three marketing books (the ones by Gary Keller would be good). Ask them to fill out the form (asking for their e-mail address too), then buy the book and make an appointment to deliver to them in person.

• Enter to win a door prize—Have forms at the table for real estate agents to fill out and enter your giveaway. Look for DVDs or CDs by famous real estate trainers.  I just found one online by Mike Ferry called “One-on-One Retreat by Mike Ferry” for $22 online. But I’m sure you can find others that you can offer as a door prize.

• Enter to win a door prize and conduct a training session how to use it—This is the same as above but give away a Flip camera along with coupon where you would train them on how to produce videos for their websites and social media pages.

Instead of giving away a candy bar or trinket that will end up in a desk drawer, these trade show ideas are designed to have a long shelf-life and one-on-one meeting with real estate agents.
