How to Start a Blogging Club

Do you blog? If you do, do you have trouble finding stuff to write about? If you don't, is the reason because you don't know what to write about?

Processing Content

Here’s an awesome idea—first, you’ll need to put together a group of real estate agents, home inspectors, certified public accountants, financial planners, insurance agents, etc., who already have blog sites—especially those who post on www.ActiveRain.com.

I recommend that you find eight to 10 people to invite. This needs to be an exclusive club. Don’t invite everyone. Make sure that all currently have blogs that are interesting, have followers and get a decent amount of comments from their readers.

The idea is to have everyone write a blog, exchange them with each other, give credit to the author of the blog (or become a guest blogger), back link to your blog page and finally, increase your search engine optimization results!

So, here's the step-by-step process. First create a list of real estate topics; some examples:

  1. Income Qualifying—What Can't be Used
  2. Appraisal Red Flags
  3. What Does a Title Company Do?
  4. Buying Homeowners Insurance
  5. How to Dispute Property Taxes
  6. Introducing your Team
  7. How to Buy a Second Home
  8. Purchasing Rental Properties
  9. Choosing Your Realtor
  10. Choosing a Lender
  11. Why Do I Have to Have an Escrow Account
  12. What is a Survey and Do I Need One?
  13. Locking Your Interest Rate
  14. Verifying Cash to Close: Don's and Don'ts
  15. Explaining Mortgage Insurance
  16. Why Get a Home Inspection
  17. Remodeling Your Home: Is it Worth it?
  18. Tax Benefits of Homeownership
  19. Or, you can explain various loan programs (FHA, VA, Conventional, buy downs) in plain language, etc.

Distribute the list of topics to the group. Everyone in the group choose one topic to write about. Articles should be a minimum of 300 or a maximum of 750 words.
Give a deadline—like 30 days—to write a blog. At the end of that time period, compile and redistribute the articles among the group.

The best part?  Each person will give credit to the author of the article (guest posting), which will also increase your "search engine optimization" results.

What if you put together a group of let's say 10 people, did exactly the same thing?  You’d have over two months’ worth of content.

I can assure you that those agents and affinity partners who blog, who put their content out there for everyone to read, will join your group.  If they have a problem with it—hey, you don’t want them in the club!
