Loan Officer Formula for Success

First, before we get back to the conclusion of our discussion about the books I read, I want to tell you what areas you need to cover in your reading:

1. Your mindset

2. Salesmanship

3. Persuasion

4. Generally accepted success principles.

So far I have recommended:

• "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.

• "Psycho-Cybernetics" by Dr Maxwell Maltz.

• Any books you can find on emotional direct marketing and the lives of Houdini and P.T. Barnum, along with Mr. Barnum's book called "The Art of Money Getting."

Now let's move on to area No. 3, persuasion. Once you know the ways to influence others and persuade them (ethically and morally) of your position your life will change for the better - forever. Of course you need to have the right mindset and master salesmanship as well.

Persuasion sometimes sounds kind of misleading but we do it every day all day with everyone in our lives. Something as simple as what or where you are going to have for dinner involves persuasion.

One of the best books on persuasion I have ever read is called "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion" by Robert Cialdini. He has also co-authored another book called "Yes!: 50 Scientifically Proven Ways to Be Persuasive."

You'll thank me for that recommendation. It's a real game changer once you master the scientifically proven ideas and examples he provides. Another classic I read and re-read and provide to my coaching and consulting clients.
