Open House Survival Kit Builds Realtor Relationships

Open houses are a fabulous opportunity for you to connect and deepen Realtor relationships. One of my coaching clients recently put together an “Open House Survival” kit. Danielle has had great response as she has delivered the baskets.

My personal opinion (for what it's worth) is that Realtors have open houses because sellers insist. Open houses rarely sell homes, but are simply a part of their marketing plan that often feels like a chore. Your willingness to stop by and brighten the day will hopefully reap great rewards.

I asked Danielle to share what went into each basket:

  • I bought a few small wire baskets at Dollar Tree ($1 each!)
  • I lined the bottom with a drawstring garbage bag—I thought it might come in handy for trash.

Inside I put the following:

  • Company koozie and water bottle (chilled of course—it’s over 100 degrees in Texas right now)
  • Snapple Singles or any drink mix to add to that bottle of water (six for $1 at Target)
  • Notepad and pen, all with company logos
  • Snacks: crackers, granola bar, Skittles—because they probably forgot to eat with all the running around.
  • Breath mints
  • Small hand sanitizer (three for $1 pack at Dollar Tree)
  • Scented candle
  • Measuring tape
  • Screwdriver with eight attachments. I found this at Dollar Tree for $1!
  • Pack of tissues
  • My brochure
  • And of course, business card—I  even threw in a magnet

Additional things that you can add:

  • Gum instead of mints
  • Plug ins or air freshener instead of candle
  • Wet Wipes instead of tissues
  • Single size bag of pretzels
  • Printed loan applications
  • Duct tape
  • Toilet Paper
