Can you make that statement? Do you feel that it is true? I attest to you that it is the only position from which the strength to overcome resides.

After 25 years in business and marriage, I can tell you that many times were good and some were just awful.

When things were good, we were either lucky or I was leading my organization correctly. I had the correct system in place. Other times, when things were bad, usually, part of the cause was an outside influence. But, it was also because I was not leading the company correctly. I can admit that many times I did not see the outside influence coming or underestimated its ability to impact the organization.

Today's environment is one for great alarm, but whether the problem you are facing was actually self-inflicted or the cause of a lack of understanding or the outside influence was absolutely beyond your grasp or control (like so many issues that face our business today) the only position for you to take, the only philosophical stance that places you in the right frame of mind is the mind set of self reliance and responsibility.

You've heard the old adage: "If it is to be, it's up to me."

Commit to working on you. Commit to working on your personal growth. Commit to education, training, leadership and improvement of your abilities. Regardless of what comes next, and we all know that there are a number of additional shoes to drop, the stronger and more prepared you are personally, the better.
