So, were you one of the people who thought scrapbooking was just a fad and that it would go away after a short period of time? I did! But surprise, it’s more popular than ever!
So, what does that have to do with your mortgage business? Well, one of the ways to build relationships is to share a little of yourself with your clients, real estate agents and referral partners. That’s one of the reasons you may have created a personal brochure.
But another way to “kick it up a notch” is to create an online digital scrapbook!
Now, hear me out. I went to buy a big-ticket item about a year ago and the salesperson asked me to step into his office. On his desk was a small scrapbook with his wedding picture, him receiving sales awards, pictures of people he sold products to, a picture of his mom and dad in front of their RV.
I walked out of his office feeling that I “knew” the guy. I trusted him as a salesperson that would honestly answer my questions and make sure I got a fair deal for the product I was buying.
So, do you think this would work for you? I mean the online version of it!
I will cover what to include in your scrapbook, links to digital scrapbook sites, and how to use it with social media, website and blogs. First, you’ve got to decide what you’d like people to know about you.
Here are a couple of suggestions for photographs to include:
• Hobbies
• Family pictures (if you don’t want your children for privacy reasons, maybe just your wife or significant other)
• Parents/grandparents
• Your car
• Vacation photos
• Awards
• Famous people you have met
• Customer thank you letters
• Your office
• Past customers
• Real estate agents
• Copy of diplomas, education seminars you attended
• Your collections, toys
• Your Internet page
• Your favorite food
• Your favorite charity

Here are some suggestions on how to use with your social media sites:
When you’ve built your scrapbook online, you’ll receive a link to your page. You’ll also need to enter a user name and password. Use a user name and password that “identifies” you, like your first name and the password being your last name.
Post the link on your social media sites: Facebook, LinkedIn, Active Rain, Wordpress, your blog page. Each of these sites has tabs and apps where you can post the scrapbook link.
Add the link to your email signature.
Email the link to people who you’ve talked to over the phone saying, thought you’d like to know a little bit more about me…”
Oh, and don’t forgot to keep adding pictures to your scrapbook on a regular basis.
So, think about it! This is a great way to let people get to know you on a personal level—it’s like free, and it only takes a click or two on their part!
